CaloriePlex exists to make accurate, science-based nutrition tools freely accessible to everyone. Too many calorie calculators online use outdated equations, show no sources, or hide their methodology behind paywalls. We built CaloriePlex to be different: transparent, accurate, and grounded in published nutrition science.
Every calculation on CaloriePlex is based on equations from peer-reviewed journals. We show you the exact formula used for your inputs so you can verify the maths yourself.
What We Build
Our tools are entirely client-side — all calculations happen in your browser. We do not send your age, weight, height, or any personal information to any server. Your data never leaves your device.
- BMR Calculator — using Mifflin-St Jeor, Harris-Benedict (Revised), and Cunningham equations
- TDEE Calculator — with validated activity multipliers
- Macro Calculator — protein, carbohydrates, and fat targets for four dietary profiles
- BMI Calculator — with WHO classification
- Ideal Weight Calculator — using the Devine formula
Our Scientific Standards
We only implement equations that have been published in peer-reviewed nutrition journals and validated in subsequent studies. Our current equation sources:

When equations differ in the literature, we use the version most widely validated in independent studies and clearly label our source.
Limitations & Honesty
All BMR and TDEE calculations are statistical estimates derived from population studies. No formula predicts any individual's exact metabolic rate. Real-world factors — sleep quality, stress levels, hormonal status, gut microbiome, and genetics — all influence actual calorie needs in ways no equation can fully capture.
We always recommend using your calculated TDEE as a starting point, then adjusting based on 3–4 weeks of real-world tracking. The number on this calculator is a hypothesis; your body's response is the data.

CaloriePlex is free to use and supported by Google AdSense display advertising. We follow Google's AdSense policies strictly — ads are clearly separated from content and never placed in ways designed to induce accidental clicks. We do not accept sponsored content, paid rankings, or affiliate nutrition product placements that could compromise our scientific objectivity.
